Deerfield High School student found alive

A 17-year-old track star from highland park, who was reported missing Friday, was found alive late Saturday, police said.

About 2,000 volunteers combed north suburban Deerfield and highland park on Saturday looking for Caroline Stitcher, a deerfield high school junior. A track-and-field teammate last saw Stitcher at 3:15 p.m. Friday running across practice fields behind the school at 1959 Waukegan Rd., police said.

Police could not immediately provide details about where she was found.

George Fornero, superintendent of Township high school district 113, confirmed that Stitcher was found alive about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. "I have no other information at this time," he said.
search dogs scoured nearby lake county forest preserves three times, and the school had been searched multiple times. By saturday afternoon, posters with Stitcher's photo were put up in a number of Deerfield businesses, and search teams lined several main roads.
