Campus-Wide Tegrity Campus Scores High Marks With Students

SANTA CLARA, Calif., - tegrity, provider of the leading class capture web service for higher education, announced that it will unveil the results of an important study highlighting the impact of tegrity Campus 2.0 class capture web service on student achievement at Saint Mary's university of Minnesota during a webinar this week.

Saint Mary's university initially deployed tegrity in a proof of concept study with a small number of faculty teaching undergraduate courses. Building on the success of the initial study, Saint Mary's expanded campus-wide in the spring of 2006. Within five semesters, well over half the faculty had adopted tegrity's class capture service across several departments and more than 100 course sections, including courses offered to non-traditional and adult learners. During 2007 alone, Saint Mary's faculty created 5023 recordings.

"The successful deployment of tegrity at Saint Mary's university is a fantastic example of how tegrity can be easily utilized to provide benefits for an entire campus -- students, faculty and institution alike," said Isaac Segal, tegrity CEO. "Saint Mary's proves that tegrity gives every student increased opportunities to learn and achieve, without burdening instructors, and institutions benefit from enhanced student satisfaction and retention."

In the Spring of 2008, faculty and administration at Saint Mary's conducted a survey of students to determine the impact of tegrity on student learning. Of the 862 student respondents, which included both users and non-users, 65% reported that tegrity increased their focus on the most important learning objectives for the course, approximately 60% reported that tegrity increased their preparation for exams, overall performance on tests, and increased satisfaction with courses and course material. Notably, cumulative grade point average (GPA) was proven to be significantly higher for tegrity users than for non-users.

"When comparing cumulative gpas between students who use tegrity versus those who don't, the results are clear. tegrity offers a significant advantage," said Dr. Chad Kjorlien, Director of Instructional Technology at Saint Mary's university.
